What Is Included in a Yoga Retreat? A Package Comparison Guide

A yoga retreat package may include your room, classes and meals, while leaving flights, transfers or optional treatments for you to arrange. The phrase “all-inclusive” is not enough to settle that question. Compare the actual inclusion lists for the dates and room type you want.

The most useful comparison is the experience you will receive for the complete trip cost. A cheaper headline price can be right for you, but only if you understand which parts are included and which you still need to organise.

Use this retreat package checklist

Count nights and usable practice time

Three days commonly describe a stay spanning arrival day, a full day and departure day. That does not automatically give you three full days of classes. Read the timetable alongside check-in, check-out and your travel plans.

Ask whether an advertised daily activity is offered on both travel days. If a morning class starts before your arrival, it may not form part of the experience you can attend. If your flight leaves early, your final-day breakfast or practice could also be affected.

Check the accommodation behind the room label

“Private room” does not necessarily mean a private bathroom, and “shared” can describe a twin room, a dormitory or a room booked together with someone you know. Check the selected package rather than assuming the same arrangement applies to every price on the listing.

Location matters too. A room can be in the main retreat building, a nearby guest house or a homestay connected by a shuttle. Decide whether walking between accommodation and practice, or sharing facilities, fits the stay you want.

Read the meal list one item at a time

Breakfast and dinner are different from three meals a day. Check whether lunch, snacks, drinking water and other drinks are included, and what happens on arrival and departure days. If you have a dietary requirement, ask the organiser about the actual menu before booking.

A published vegetarian or vegan option is useful information, but it is not a guarantee that every individual dietary need can be accommodated. Leave room in your budget for anything you expect to buy outside the package.

Separate airport transfers from local transport

A local beach shuttle is not an airport transfer. A group airport pick-up may depend on a particular airport, day and arrival window. Ask whether the transfer is priced per person or per vehicle and whether the return journey is also included.

If a listing gives inconsistent transfer figures in different sections, request a current quote rather than choosing whichever figure is lower. Keep that confirmation with your booking details.

Two real examples of why details matter

The following are research-based examples from published listings checked on 29 October 2026. They are not first-hand reviews, guarantees of availability or a ranking of the destinations.

A village stay in Bali

Baliuma’s three-day beginner programme lists two nights, yoga and meditation, meals and cultural activities. Its accommodation description explains that homestays and guest houses are separate from the main practice and dining area, with connecting transport. That detail matters if you pictured every part of your day happening in one building.

A short stay near Bentota, Sri Lanka

YogaBee’s three-day listing describes two nights and breakfast and dinner, while lunch and airport transfers are listed as extras. A beach shuttle appears among the inclusions. Those are separate transport arrangements, and knowing the difference helps you compare the full cost.

The listing has inconsistent airport-transfer prices in different sections, so obtain a current quote instead of relying on a figure reproduced here. The programme and activities also depend on the selected dates and arrangements.

Keep cancellation terms with the package details

Read the booking conditions before paying. Look for the deposit amount, payment dates, cancellation deadlines, change fees and what happens if the organiser changes the programme. Do not assume two listings on the same platform share identical terms.

Travel and insurance decisions depend on your own circumstances and the current policies you choose. A retreat description is not a substitute for checking those documents.

Send one clear enquiry before choosing

“I am considering these dates and this room option. Please confirm the included nights, meals, classes and activities; the airport-transfer arrangements; the complete price for my booking; and the cancellation and change terms. Are any advertised activities optional or dependent on weather or group numbers?”

Add any requirements that matter to you. A clear written response can be more useful than a long list of attractive amenities with unclear conditions.

Bring a little music for your own quiet time

If you enjoy personal listening while travelling or settling into your room, explore our downloadable music collections. Download before travelling and ask about shared-space expectations. These albums are for personal listening; public classes and commercial use require separate permission.
